Minimally invasive surgery, or keyhole surgery, reduces trauma to the body caused by conventional open surgery, because the incisions made are much smaller. This efficient procedure is performed with advanced laparoscopic instruments inserted through 3 – 4 tiny buttonhole incisions.
The surgeon will be able to view enhanced and detailed images of the internal organs by inserting a viewing scope through these incisions.
After the procedure, the tiny incisions are stitched up, leaving minimal visible scarring. Minimally invasive surgery can be used for diagnostic purposes and laparoscopic techniques are used in a wide range of surgeries and procedures.
